Not far from two years ago, preparing for my dissertation defense, I wrote about the academic software I used to write the doctoral dissertation. Now that I have been working in academia for about one and a half years, I thought to revisit the subject and write a little about the tools I use today.

As I am sitting and writing this with my laptop and only have two other computing devices with me (my clock and my phone), I am feeling a bit jealous. Whether the cows surf the Intermoo or watch the Cowflix or not, this bit of information goes to show how digital processes envelop even the picturesque image of a pure countryside and the milking of the cow early in the morning; it is done by computers.

Besides these headline breaking news, AI is also complexly entangled in our daily lives for instance through our use of the internet, social media, or by just hearing the seasons hit songs generated or selected by some sort of artificial intelligence.
It might even seem that AI is seemingly capable of anything and non-stoppable. This notion is further accentuated by industry and media. Therefore it might be beneficial to define the current AI systems and take a broader look at what is happening right now.
