Exhibition Opening at Galerie Pleiku, Berlin
Beer as Material and Landscape
After several years of brewing, my Stillebeer project is now maturing into an exhibition at Galerie Pleiku in Berlin. Here, beer becomes both subject and substance, medium and metabolism. Five beer paintings — IPA, Stout, Pilsner, Kveik, and Saison — gather in conversation; perhaps Gose will join them.
These works are not fixed images but living processes. Each beer, brewed by me, is a non-pasteurised liquid organism — fermenting, breathing, and quietly transforming on the surface of the canvas. Over days and weeks, brightness softens, colour wanes, and yeast constellations might emerge. The paintings move from the freshness of the pour toward the slow, silent decomposition of their own making.
Beer paintings are an unstable process; the material acts, settles, and decays. The exhibition traces this unfolding. Beer paintings are not landscapes of representation, but of material entangling with other things.
