BOOK LAUNCH TODAY: ART AS WE DON'T KNOW IT

Thursday, March 5, 14–19h, SOLU Space, Luotsikatu 13, Helsinki

Today is the launch day of a book I had the joy of being a part with. Together with Kristiina Ljokkoi, we wrote a short piece on the possibilities on the convergence on art, science and technology education. What we aim to show is that art is more than ”just” design or aesthetic questions. In times like ours, where we need to make anew our habits and cultures, arts role is ever more critical. However, art is not just about opening alternative readings, but transdisciplinary working between arts and sciences is beneficial for all of us.

The book includes fascinating articles from artists and scientist, and I feel privileged to be part of it. You can purchase it from Aalto Arts Books, and thanks to the wonder of open access publishing it can also be downloaded as a pdf from there; although I must say the book itself is lovely.

The book also celebrates Finnish Bioart Society’s 10th anniversary, and along with that, there is a book launch today, which I, unfortunately, cannot be part of, but recommend if you happen to be in the Helsinki region today!.
